2005 Ford F-250 — service lifetime transmission fluid or leave it alone?

2005 Ford F-250 6.0 Power Stroke, about 218,000 miles. The manual treats the fluid as lifetime under normal conditions, but the vehicle is getting older and I plan to keep it.

If it were in my driveway, get a real battery/charging test on the 2005 Ford F-250, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2005 Ford F-250 in Pennsylvania with 218,000 miles. That's the whole play. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2005 Ford F-250 does it — then decide on parts. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Not driving it hard until I know more.

Log the conditions before you spend. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2005 Ford F-250 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “250 — service lifetime transmission fluid or,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.
