2017 Audi Q7 — costs that mattered more than fuel economy

After owning the car for a while, tires, insurance and service pricing mattered more than the MPG difference I obsessed over before buying. What ownership costs surprised you most?

I parked the 2017 Audi Q7 and wrote down what I already tested so I'm not repeating myself. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2017 Audi Q7 owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. I'd do that before spending real money. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Following up on costs that mattered more than fuel economy: still happening, but I have better notes now. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

I'd push back a little: Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2017 Audi Q7 before a big repair or a big spend. I'd do that before spending real money. Stop there until you know. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2017 Audi Q7 in Long Island, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. Then you'll know the next fork. On “costs that mattered more than fuel economy,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Stop there until you know. That's my plan before I call anyone.

If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. This is the version I'd tell a friend.
