2018 Ford Mustang GT — used truck versus new compact pickup

GarageCollector62Community StarterJun 4, 20262018 Ford Mustang GTCharlotte
2018 Ford Mustang GT, about 78,000 miles. Same money buys an older full-size truck with capability I may never use or a newer compact truck with better fuel economy and warranty. Anyone make this switch and regret the smaller truck? Appreciate any ideas on what to check first. What am I missing?

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2018 Ford Mustang so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. On “used truck versus new compact pickup,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Yes, with one caveat: A written buyer’s order on the 2018 Ford Mustang is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “used truck versus new compact pickup,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the whole play. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. Two 2018 Ford Mustang quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Do that first. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Ask for out-the-door on the 2018 Ford Mustang with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Do that first. I'd rather be boring and correct. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. In Charlotte, insurance quotes flipped a 2018 Ford Mustang comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2018 Ford Mustang in Charlotte with 78,000 miles. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

I would not stare at the monthly. If one piece looks too good on the 2018 Ford Mustang, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. The universe charges extra for guessing. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.
