2024 Rivian R1S — dealer APR is higher than my credit-union preapproval

TirePilot735Community StarterDec 18, 20252024 Rivian R1S Dual-MotorWashington DC
I have a preapproval in hand and the dealer offered a higher rate. Is there any reason to let them try to beat it, and how should I compare lender fees or incentives instead of only APR? I am in Washington DC. Mostly looking for the right next step.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. Two 2024 Rivian R1S quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2024 Rivian R1S in Washington DC. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Asking because it changes the advice: Two 2024 Rivian R1S quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

Asking because it changes the advice: I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Rivian R1S and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Rivian R1S numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Rivian R1S so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “dealer apr is higher than my credit-union,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Rivian R1S in Washington DC. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' I screenshotted the quote for later.
