Anyone else: CPO luxury SUV or brand-new mainstream SUV?

NewCarBuyerCommunity StarterJan 24, 20262025 Porsche Macan Electric 4SCharlotte
2025 Porsche Macan Electric 4S, about 78,000 miles. Budget works for either a lightly used luxury SUV or a new mainstream model with a full warranty. I'm more worried about three-to-five-year ownership cost and service downtime than the purchase price. How would you compare them? Trying to diagnose before I book a shop.

Quick update: a second 2025 Porsche Macan quote made the first offer look ordinary. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

OP here. Still looking, but I'm waiting on inspection notes before I send money on the 2025 Porsche Macan. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2025 Porsche Macan and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2025 Porsche Macan in Charlotte with 78,000 miles. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2025 Porsche Macan so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Quick update: a second 2025 Porsche Macan quote made the first offer look ordinary. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

I would not stare at the monthly. In Charlotte, insurance quotes flipped a 2025 Porsche Macan comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: A written buyer’s order on the 2025 Porsche Macan is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. On “cpo luxury suv or brand-new mainstream suv,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2025 Porsche Macan so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. That's the whole play. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2025 Porsche Macan notes. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. A written buyer’s order on the 2025 Porsche Macan is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I'd rather be boring and correct. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. In Charlotte, insurance quotes flipped a 2025 Porsche Macan comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2025 Porsche Macan in Charlotte with 78,000 miles. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.
