Question: CPO luxury SUV or brand-new mainstream SUV?

Budget works for either a lightly used luxury SUV or a new mainstream model with a full warranty. I'm more worried about three-to-five-year ownership cost and service downtime than the purchase price. How would you compare them? I'm in Nashville. Trying to diagnose before I book a shop. What am I missing?

I would not stare at the monthly. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2024 Ford Mustang price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2024 Ford Mustang price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. When does it actually happen? If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Update from me: I finally have sale price, fees, and trade on separate lines for the 2024 Ford Mustang. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Agree — and I'd add this: Call your insurer in Nashville before you fall in love with the 2024 Ford Mustang. If they balk, that's your answer. On “cpo luxury suv or brand-new mainstream suv,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

I'd push back a little: If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2024 Ford Mustang price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Any freeze-frame data saved? Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2024 Ford Mustang and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.
