2023 Ford Bronco — dealer lowered price but added accessories back in

ShopRoadieCommunity StarterFeb 16, 20262023 Ford Bronco BadlandsCentral Jersey
We agreed on a vehicle price, then the worksheet included dealer-installed products I did not ask for. The total is now higher than before. What is the cleanest way to negotiate from an out-the-door number?

If I were shopping this, two 2023 Ford Bronco quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2023 Ford Bronco so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. Just my two cents from doing this recently. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2023 Ford Bronco and the doc fee was the tell. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If one piece looks too good on the 2023 Ford Bronco, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. Stop there until you know. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2023 Ford Bronco quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. No need to make it theatrical. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2023 Ford Bronco so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “dealer lowered price but added accessories back,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Same neighborhood, different next step: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2023 Ford Bronco numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2023 Ford Bronco numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “dealer lowered price but added accessories back,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Just my two cents from doing this recently. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 2023 Ford Bronco, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Stop there until you know. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. A written buyer’s order on the 2023 Ford Bronco is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. Two 2023 Ford Bronco quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. A written buyer’s order on the 2023 Ford Bronco is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. Stop there until you know. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Not convinced that's the whole story. In Central Jersey, insurance quotes flipped a 2023 Ford Bronco comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Just my two cents from doing this recently. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Call your insurer in Central Jersey before you fall in love with the 2023 Ford Bronco. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “dealer lowered price but added accessories back,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Ask for out-the-door on the 2023 Ford Bronco with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “dealer lowered price but added accessories back,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Stop there until you know. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

This is from a 2023 Ford Bronco in Central Jersey. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I would not stare at the monthly. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2023 Ford Bronco and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.
