2024 Kia EV9 — dealer APR is higher than my credit-union preapproval — second opinion before I spend money

2024 Kia EV9 GT-Line, about 12,000 miles. I have a preapproval in hand and the dealer offered a higher rate. Is there any reason to let them try to beat it, and how should I compare lender fees or incentives instead of only APR?

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. If one piece looks too good on the 2024 Kia EV9, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Kia EV9 numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. On “dealer apr is higher than my credit-union,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. In Detroit, insurance quotes flipped a 2024 Kia EV9 comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2024 Kia EV9 in Detroit with 12,000 miles. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Update from me: I finally have sale price, fees, and trade on separate lines for the 2024 Kia EV9. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Asking because it changes the advice: I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Kia EV9 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Do that first. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Agree — and I'd add this: Ask for out-the-door on the 2024 Kia EV9 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. If they balk, that's your answer. On “dealer apr is higher than my credit-union,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.
