Mustang track-day wheel size that clears big brakes

BatteryPilot38Community StarterApr 6, 20262024 Ford Mustang GTLas Vegas
I want a dedicated wheel/tire setup for HPDE and would prefer more sidewall than the street setup. What's the right way to confirm barrel/spoke clearance around the larger brakes rather than relying only on diameter? Appreciate any ideas on what to check first.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2024 Ford Mustang in Las Vegas, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. I'd do that before spending real money. On “day wheel size that clears big brakes,” that was the fork that mattered for me. When does it actually happen? Wrote this up on my lunch break.

On “day wheel size that clears big brakes,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Useful. I'll report back after I verify that on my 2024 Ford Mustang. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Thanks — that narrowed it. I'm going to try the simpler check on the 2024 Ford Mustang first. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2024 Ford Mustang owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. Then you'll know the next fork. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2024 Ford Mustang owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. That's where I'd start. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2024 Ford Mustang, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. That's where I'd start. This is from a 2024 Ford Mustang in Las Vegas. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2024 Ford Mustang before a big repair or a big spend. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2024 Ford Mustang in Las Vegas. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Stop there until you know. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I'd push back a little: Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2024 Ford Mustang before a big repair or a big spend. Then you'll know the next fork. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Asking because it changes the advice: Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2024 Ford Mustang before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. This is from a 2024 Ford Mustang in Las Vegas. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Agree — and I'd add this: A second data point from another 2024 Ford Mustang owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. Then you'll know the next fork. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Yes, with one caveat: On the 2024 Ford Mustang in Las Vegas, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. I'd do that before spending real money. On “day wheel size that clears big brakes,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I parked the 2024 Ford Mustang and wrote down what I already tested so I'm not repeating myself. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.
