Mustang track-day wheel size that clears big brakes

NorthCommuterCommunity StarterApr 17, 20262024 Ford Mustang GTBoston / New England
I want a dedicated wheel/tire setup for HPDE and would prefer more sidewall than the street setup. What's the right way to confirm barrel/spoke clearance around the larger brakes rather than relying only on diameter? Appreciate any ideas on what to check first.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2024 Ford Mustang before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2024 Ford Mustang owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. I'd do that before spending real money. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'd rather be boring and correct. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2024 Ford Mustang, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. That's where I'd start. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2024 Ford Mustang in Boston / New England, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. That's where I'd start. On “day wheel size that clears big brakes,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Same neighborhood, different next step: On the 2024 Ford Mustang in Boston / New England, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. Then you'll know the next fork. Just my two cents from doing this recently. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.
